This site is dedicated to the mailboxes of Gold Canyon. Please read the list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) before contacting us.
- Where is Gold Canyon?
- Gold Canyon is a Census Designated Place (CDP) at the foothills of the Superstition Mountains in Pinal County, Arizona. The nearest municipality is Apache Junction.
- Who are you?
- We’re local residents. But this site is not about us—it’s about the mailboxes of Gold Canyon.
- Why are you doing this?
- Because Gold Canyon has a variety of unique and interesting mailboxes. Seriously, we’ve seen websites dedicated to manhole covers, so this site is not at all unusual. Websites like this help foster community spirit and awareness. If you live in Gold Canyon, then your property values might even improve! Relax and enjoy the pictures.
- So what? Who cares about Gold Canyon or its mailboxes?
- Our community inspired the U2 song, In God’s Country, which is adored by millions of fans around the world.
- That’s total bullshit! The U2 song, In God’s Country, has nothing to do with Gold Canyon.
- True. We just made that up.
- What about Apache Junction? We also have cool mailboxes.
- No doubt. But we have to set some geographical limit. Otherwise, before you know it, Antarctica will be complaining that their mailboxes aren’t included. And we simply don’t have the resources to survey the entire planet. You know how it is; so many mailboxes, so little time. If you’re game, last time we checked, mailboxesofaj.com is available…
- I don’t want to be involved. Please respect my privacy and remove my mailbox.
- We’re sorry you feel this way. But this site is not about you; it’s about your mailbox. And there’s absolutely nothing private about your mailbox. Indeed, thanks to Google Street View, your entire front yard is already online for everyone to see. Moreover, satellite photos of your property are also online. Heck we can see what’s in your backyard right now just by zooming in. And if that wasn’t enough, cheap little “hobby” drones can fly over your property at any time, day or night, without restriction, recording everything, posting it online for the entire world to see—this despite the fact that you pay beaucoup taxes to the county for your “property rights” which apparently don’t include keeping out your neighbor’s grandkid’s drones. So, point is, when you talk about privacy, it’s important to keep things in perspective.
- Seriously, I’m in the Witness Protection Program and I don’t want to be involved.
- Seriously, if you don’t want people to gawk at your mailbox, then replace it with something from a big box store.
- Hey I live in Gold Canyon! Why wasn’t my mailbox included?
- This site is not for every Tom, Dick, and Harry mailbox in the community—only those mailboxes that are unique and/or noteworthy as deemed by our expert panel of jurists. Also, our periodic surveys sometimes miss important new postal-related developments. If you feel your mailbox should be here, then it probably should. Contact us with the details.
- I live in a gated community in Gold Canyon. Why wasn’t my mailbox included?
- Take a guess.
- You’ve included my mailbox, but your pictures do not do it justice! What can I do to fix your egregious photographic misadventures?
- Our apologies! Send us your preferred picture. Maybe get creative and send us a picture of a painting of a sketch of your mailbox. Compose and record a little ditty and make it a multimedia experience. Our vision is to celebrate your mailbox in all its glory.
- This is great! How do I get involved?
- Send us your ideas!
